Deleting your TSRP account
This page explains how to delete your account with The SMART Repair People, what happens when you do, and what we are obliged to keep.
It applies to repairer and fleet accounts, including those used with the TSRP mobile app. Customers who have had a repair carried out do not hold an account — if that is you, see Requesting deletion without an account below.
Deleting from the app
- Open TSRP and sign in.
- Go to My Account.
- Choose Delete account.
- Enter your password to confirm.
You will be asked for your password because deletion cannot be undone.
Deleting from the website
- Sign in at app.smartrepairpeople.com.
- Go to your account settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
Requesting deletion without an account
Email hello@smartrepairpeople.com from the address we hold for you, with the subject Account deletion request. If you cannot email from that address, tell us the address you used and we will verify it another way before acting.
We will confirm what we have done within one month, as required by UK GDPR.
What happens
Where nothing is outstanding, your account is closed immediately, you are signed out on every device, and your access is revoked.
Where there is work in progress or money owed in either direction, we cannot delete those records straight away. Your request is passed to our team, we will contact you to settle what is outstanding, and the deletion follows.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address, phone number and address
- Your account, password and sign-in sessions
- Photographs you have uploaded, other than those forming part of a completed job's record
- Your saved preferences and notification settings
What we keep, and why
We cannot delete everything, and it would be misleading to say otherwise.
- Invoices and payment records — HMRC requires business records to be kept for six years. These are retained with your identifying details removed wherever they are not needed for the record to stand.
- Completed job records — where a repair carries a guarantee, or where a dispute could still be raised, we keep what is needed to honour or defend it. UK law allows six years for a contract claim to be brought.
- Records we are legally required to keep for tax, accounting or regulatory reasons.
Where we keep a record for one of these reasons, we remove your personal details from everything that does not need them, and we tell you what has been kept.
Deleting some of your data, without closing your account
You do not have to choose between keeping your account and having data removed. Email hello@smartrepairpeople.com with the subject Data deletion request, telling us what you would like removed — for example photographs from a particular job, or a phone number you no longer use.
We will do what we can and tell you plainly where we cannot, and why. The same retention rules below apply: we are able to remove far more than most people expect, but not records we are legally obliged to keep.
Your other rights
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to stop sending you marketing — marketing consent is withdrawn immediately on request, whatever else is outstanding.
See our Privacy Policy for the full picture, or contact hello@smartrepairpeople.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
